My Story
I have always loved writing. I think it was because when I was a kid I obsessively watched Star Trek and those beautiful stories, those writers told made me fall in love with the craft of writing. Start Trek was about equality, regardless of race or ability, and that resonated with me. I guess that makes me a bit of nerd. And that’s okay — age of the geek baby, lol. 🖖
My other lifelong passion, basketball, has been with me since me since my youth. Watching the athletic abilities of those players was a bit like breathing for me, it just felt natural. Yet, not so natural, of course, given my limitations. Watching those early games, though, was, again, not about limitations — I felt alive.
You would think, given my background, that I always had aspirations of being a writer, and you would be right. Long story short, I let fear get in the way of my love of writing. So, for many years, I remained silent. Until…we found ourselves in the middle of the pandemic.
We all had lots of free time on our hands, and the lock down was hard — perhaps harder for those with disabilities than most. During what seemed like my darkest period, I decided to start writing as a way to clear my mind. Through the encouragement of a friend, I ended up continuing that process and found myself with the source material that would become my first book of poetry and prose. Now, I can’t imagine stopping.
It is my hope that through this website and my creative endeavors, you will be encouraged to pursue whatever you are interested in — following your dreams to their own logical conclusion. Thank you all for coming here and getting this far.
