Grandparents. I miss my grandma and grandpa. They are no longer around, and I think about them often. My heart still aches from missing them. I had a very rough childhood, so I spent a lot of time with my grandpa Joe and my grandma Jerry.

We all have memories from childhood that stick with us forever, and I have a lot of memories with my grandparents that will stay with me forever. As many of you know, I have a disability, and what impresses me is that even though I had a disability, my grandparents, Joe and Jerry Yankee, did not hesitate to take me in during my time of need.

What I miss most about Grandma is her smile, her laugh, her hugs, and her hot chocolate. It was just Nestlé Quik, but something about having hot chocolate at Grandma and Grandpa’s house made it extra special.

I also enjoyed my grandpa’s laugh and smile, and whenever I spent the night, he would say, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” Then I would say, “I won’t. I will make them take their teeth out.” Then he would give me a kiss on the cheek and say, “I love you.”

Like every grandparent does, they spoiled me like crazy. For example, I was never allowed to watch WWE wrestling, but my grandparents let me watch it. Good times.

For those of you who still have grandparents, never ever take them for granted, because one day, before you know it, they will be gone, and you’ll wish you had spent more time with them.

My grandpa died in 2003, and my grandma died in 2021. My heart aches every day. I miss them so much it hurts. What makes it worse is that I did not get the chance to say goodbye or tell them “I love you” one last time.

So never take for granted the time you have left with those you love, because we’re here today and gone tomorrow, and in the blink of an eye, they are gone.

Treasure those that you love for all time. If I could say one more thing to my grandpa and grandma, I would say, “I love you so much. Thank you for taking me in when I needed you the most. I will never forget you. I will love you always. I hope we meet again one day. I miss you guys so much.”

Until next month, my friends, much love to you all. 🖖

Remember to cherish your loved ones while they are here. Matter of fact, give one of your loved ones a call right now, whether it be your grandparents, your mom, your dad, or whoever, and let them know you love them. Cherish every moment before it’s gone forever.
