I’m going to attempt something that scares me. What could that be? Making a movie.
Do I think it will go anywhere? Will I make millions of dollars? Most likely not. Will I fail? Probably. Why am I doing this? Because I believe in the project, and I am passionate about this project, and I think other people will enjoy it as well.
Will it get past the script phase? Probably not. In my research, I found that 94% of films are independently made, but only 2 to 10% get distributed, and out of that, only 1 to 3% make a profit.
Now, after those odds, why would I make a film? Not for the green, a.k.a. money, but for the love of the art of filming, making. Yes, it would be nice to make money off of what we love, but if we truly love art, film, writing books, or any form of art, we will do it regardless of whether we make money from it or not.
So will I make money from my film? Probably not. Will I become famous? Probably not. But as long as I try, that’s what matters. When I look back, I don’t want to say to myself, “Why didn’t I try?”
What is my film about? My film will be based on my book that I’m working on, where the whole world gets a disability where they can’t walk or move like normal. They say write what you know; well, having a disability is what I know.
This movie, along with the book, will also have romance, aliens, and more. I am very excited to see what the future holds for this project!
I do know that I will need a good team around me if I am to have any success. So go after your dreams, whatever they may be, and do it for the love and not the green.
Until next month, my friends. 🖖
