Loneliness is like a predator that stocks me. It keeps gaining on me and gaining on me. Sometimes, it feels like it overtakes me. I’m truly blessed with friends and family, but sometimes I am overwhelmed with this feeling of deep, dark loneliness. As I stated before, I have friends and family that I am truly grateful for, and I try to stay busy with writing and other projects.
I am writing this because I think it’s important to be vulnerable so that if anybody else is going through the same thing, they don’t feel alone. Most people that know me might be surprised that I go through this, but it’s something I deal with. Sometimes I feel victorious against this predator of loneliness, or sometimes it overtakes me.
I ask you, please don’t feel bad, for I am truly blessed. I live a great life. I always tell myself it could be worse. I could be in a nursing home laying in filth, but instead, I’m surrounded by good friends and family that support me, and I try to be a good friend and son.
I grew up with the strongest woman I know, my mom. For her to raise a son with a disability and not even think for one minute to give him up— incredible. That’s what I think about when the predator of loneliness stalks me.
So, if you feel that same predator of loneliness, try to think about what you do have: a good friend, family, whatever it may be. Count your blessings, write your blessings down, and review them every time you feel that same predator of loneliness.
That’s what I have for you. Sorry it’s been a while. I’ve been busy with a project, my new book.
Until next time, my friends, live long and prosper. 🖖
